Welcome to Kibi’s Memory
Are You Being Bullied?
Are You Struggling With Your Mental Health?
Are You A Parent Who Needs Help?
Worried About The Impact Of Social Media?
We are on your S.I.D.E

Kibi Wade (Barrett) was a beautiful young 16 year old with so much to live for
when she tragically took her life on 24th July 2024.
Struggling for years with her mental health she was subjected to relentless bullying
at school and online through social media.
In Kibi’s memory, our aim is that no child should suffer the way Kibi did. No family should ever have to go through the indescribable trauma we as a family are facing right now. We plan to do that through educating about the potentially fatal consequences of bullying and social media. Our aim is to signpost those who are struggling with their mental health and being bullied to get timely help. There are organisations out there who can help with grief if you, like us have suffered the loss of a child to suicide.

Our Aim
If you or a family member are affected by bullying, cyber bullying or a young person struggling with your mental health.
We are on your S.I.D.E.
Support
Signposting children and their families affected by bullying, social media harm and mental health issues to proper support.
Inform

Demand Change

Why Kibi’s Memory Matters
Kibi was 16 when she took her life. She was relentlessly bullied by her peers and online. She struggled with her mental health and self harmed.
She spent a lot of time on TikTok where we believe she felt she was ugly, hated, unloved, couldn’t speak to us, would dismantle razors, pencil sharpeners- anything to self harm to the point she was neck to ankle in self harm scars. She took her life by hanging herself. Had she not been exposed to the hateful messages on Instagram, Snapchat and the videos on TikTok we believe she would still be here, having left school and left those who bullied her.
We Did It! Government WILL Restrict Social Media To Under 16s
Following months of “ping pong” between the House Of Lords and the House Of Commons, the Government agreed last night (Monday 27th April) at 11pm to some of the amendments in the Childrens Wellbeing and Schools Bill that will Ban Mobile Phones in Schools and enforce Restrictions On Social Media and Harmful Algorithms To Under 16s
Children’s WellBeing And Schools Bill Debate and Vote
On 15th April Michelle B and Michelle G will be travelling to London to the House Of Commons when the MPs debate and vote on the amendments passed in the Lords on 26th March.
This will include:
-Raising the age that a young person can access social media to 16 years old
-A legal ban on phones in schools
Recent court cases in the US have shown that platforms (Meta, Google, TikTok and Snapchat) are addictive by design.
Why do we need a consultation to tell us what we already know?
Please tell your MP to vote for the amendments today by clicking below. It won’t take you a minute.
